Getting Involved
BRMS is a place for men to be socially active, form new friendships and provide opportunities for interaction, regardless of their stage in life. BRMS operates during the week as specified from time to time, however may be closed to the general public for maintenance and project management tasks.
Our members may engage in practicing a range of skills from woodworking, metal working, restoration of old furniture, machine maintenance, garden pursuits and hobbies. Members are welcome to undertake any activity that can be accommodated in the Men’s Shed facilities with possible occasional field trips also arranged and offered to members.
The BRMS Members will range from men who are using tools for the first time to experienced craftsman looking to maintain and refine their existing skills. The community focus allows for a positive and encouraging environment, regardless of a man’s ability, with a strong focus on learning new skills, encouraging one another and working together.
As a member of the BRMS you will find a real sense of camaraderie, worth, challenge and enjoyment as you contribute to and benefit from the BRMS. This is especially true for those who have suffered hardship, loss or who are adjusting to life after work. We invite you to consider whether it may be a helpful place for you to hang out, or even to hone some of your hard earned skills.
So what’s so special about a Men’s Shed? Men’s Sheds are a place of encouragement for all to take an interest in their own health and well-being. Good health is also based on many factors and becoming a member of a Men’s Shed gives a person that safe and busy environment where many of these things can be found in an atmosphere of old-fashioned mateship. And, importantly, there is no pressure.
You can just come and have a yarn and a cuppa if that is all you’re looking for.
Members come from all walks of life – the bond that unites them is that they are people with time on their hands and they would like to do something meaningful with that time.
