Kickstart Your Heart – Week 2

How does our faith show in the way we live?

In the second message of our series, Kickstart Your Heart, Pastor Paul challenges us to consider whether our faith is reflected in our everyday actions. Drawing from James 1:19–25, he reminds us that faith is more than simply believing, attending church, or hearing God’s Word. Genuine faith should change the way we live and treat others.

James gives us a practical challenge: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. Anger can cloud our judgement and lead us to say or do things that do not reflect the character of Jesus. By listening carefully, thinking before we speak, and resisting the urge to react in anger, we make room for God’s voice to guide our responses.

But hearing God’s Word is only the beginning. James compares someone who hears the Word but does not act on it to a person who looks in a mirror and then forgets what they saw. Scripture is meant to shape us, challenge us, and influence the choices we make every day. Our faith should be visible in how we love, forgive, serve, and care for others—even when it is difficult.

Pastor Paul encourages us to move beyond simply talking about faith and put it into practice by serving people in need and caring for the most vulnerable in our community. When our actions reflect what we believe, we grow closer to God and help others see His love through us.

Watch the message or listen to the audio below and consider how you can put your faith into action by listening well, speaking carefully, and reflecting Jesus in the way you treat others.

Kickstart Your Heart – Week 1

What gives our lives meaning, and what is our mission in life?

As we begin our new sermon series, Kickstart Your Heart, Pastor Paul challenges us to consider where we find significance and purpose. While many people search for meaning in money, material possessions, careers and personal achievements, Jesus presents us with a radically different way to live.

In a world shaped by competition, status and the desire to get ahead, Jesus turns everything upside down. In Mark 10:42–45, He teaches that greatness is not found in having power over others, but in becoming a servant. Jesus Himself came not to be served, but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.

Throughout His ministry, Jesus demonstrated what it means to serve others. He showed compassion to the crowds, cared for those in need and humbled Himself to wash His disciples’ feet. His example challenges us to look beyond our own interests and consider how we treat the people around us.

But serving others is not always easy. It can be especially difficult when we are asked to show kindness to people we dislike, or when helping someone costs us time, effort or something of our own. Yet these are precisely the moments when our faith can become visible through our actions.

Pastor Paul reminds us that serving others is not about recognition or receiving something in return. It is about reflecting the love of Christ through the way we live. How we treat people and how we serve them have eternal consequences.

This message leaves us with a challenging question: How many people have been drawn closer to God because of the way we have treated them?

Watch the message or listen to the audio below and consider how you can follow Jesus’ example by serving others and showing His love through your everyday actions.
